Implications of Eating while watching screen–especially with kids

I have seen this scene replayed in many homes….it becomes very easy to feed kids while they are engrossed in the screen. They will not complain about what is being fed or how much quantity they are eating.

LET’S EXPLORE THIS A BIT. Anything that is fed into the body must be digested. Be it physical or mental–here both physical and mental digestion happens at the same time. If you don’t believe that physical symptoms are possible with mental thoughts, try thinking about your favorite food and you will start drooling, the same way some physical change happens in the body depending on the mental feeling it is processing at the time…

Secondly, we are curbing the ability to perceive important qualities of food–taste, touch, smell, sight and just treating eating activity as very mechanical, 𝐬𝐨 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐬𝐮𝐛𝐭𝐥𝐞 𝐧𝐨𝐮𝐫𝐢𝐬𝐡𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭 𝐨𝐟 𝐨𝐮𝐫 𝐬𝐞𝐧𝐬𝐞𝐬 𝐰𝐢𝐥𝐥 𝐛𝐞 𝐜𝐨𝐦𝐩𝐫𝐨𝐦𝐢𝐬𝐞𝐝

Shastras have clearly mentioned not to be distracted while eating. Completely focus on your food with your body and mind. Eat food like you are making an offering to God, so it can digest properly and will not create any potential imbalances…
