Buttermilk

This wonder drink is packed with many desirable qualities, it is tasty, light and a very good digestive. It is also helpful in many diseases like inflammation, IBS, Hemorrhoids, abdominal distension etc. Buttermilk is very good to balance Vata and Kapha imbalances.

Ingredients

  1. Freshly home made yoghurt –1 cup
  2. Water –4 cups
  3. Cumin powder –1/2 tsp
  4. Finely grated fresh coriander leaves or mint leaves–handful
  5. Salt-to taste

Method

Add cumin powder to the yoghurt and blend well using a hand blender, now add water (note: do not add water before blending yoghurt). Blend again until you get some butter separation, once the butter is separated discard butter and add a pinch of salt to the buttermilk. Serve with finely grated coriander and mint leaves at room temperature.
