Moong Soup

Moong Beans

Moong Bean is the best lentil recommended by Ayurveda, it is loaded with benefits. This particular moong soup helps you with nutrition and also weight loss at the same time. Replace this soup with your meal 1-2 times a week if you are suffering from indigestion and over weight.


  1. Green whole Moong Beans–1 cup
  2. Grated Ginger–1/2 tsp
  3. Mustard seeds–1 pinch
  4. Cumin seeds—1 pinch
  5. Ghee– 2 tsp
  6. Hing–1 pinch
  7. Coriander powder–1/2 tsp
  8. Cumin Powder–1/2 tsp
  9. Salt– to taste


Wash the moong beans thoroughly and add 6 cups of water to it. Cook the beans on the stove until they become soft, Once they are soft mash the bottom with ladle; strain the liquid and discard the beans. Add ghee to a separate griddle and once warm add mustard seeds, cumin seeds, hing and grated ginger to it. Once mustard seeds start spluttering add the liquid part to it. Add required amount of salt, cumin powder and coriander powder. Garnish with finely chopped cilantro leaves and drink warm.
